Softball Drops a Pair to Illinois College
JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Fontbonne University softball team dropped a pair to Illinois College this Thursday afternoon. The Griffins fell 1-0 in game one, while took a 4-3 loss in game two in eight innings. The Griffins move to 7-9 on the season.

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Fontbonne University softball team dropped a pair to Illinois College this Thursday afternoon. The Griffins fell 1-0 in game one, while took a 4-3 loss in game two in eight innings. The Griffins move to 7-9 on the season.
Game One:
The Griffins recorded six hits: Makenzie Howell (2), Lilly Jones, Grace Paez, Ellie Bartlett, and Kassidy Chrisco.
Makenzie Howell hit the Griffins' only double of the game.
Hailey Kutz (2-4) pitched 6.2 innings and was credited with the loss on the circle. She struck out six and allowed seven hits and one run.
Game Two:
After tying up the game in the top of the sixth, the Griffins allowed one run to score in the bottom of the eighth.
Makenzie Howell kicked off scoring for the Griffins after reaching home on a throw.
Grace Paez hit a double to left field to score Lilly Jones.
Kassidy Chrisco tied the game on a single from Ashley Carrow.
The Griffins recorded nine hits.
Hannah Borgmeyer pitched 4.2 innings and struck out one while allowing eight hits and three runs. Kami Matthews (1-2) took the loss on the mound. She pitched 3.0 innings and struck out one while allowing two hits and one run.

The Griffins travel to Monmouth (Ill.) for a doubleheader on Sunday, Apr. 2. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
