Women's basketball takes 77-62 win at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The women's basketball team moved a step closer to clinching the second seed in the 2023 SLIAC tournament with Wednesday night's 77-62 win at Spalding.

The Panthers outscored the Golden Eagles in every quarter in the win.

GU led 16-13 after the first quarter and 35-25 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Greenville made the score 56-44 and finished the game with a 21-18 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Madelyn Stephen led the team with 22 points by making 9-of-13 shots, including 2-of-3 three-pointers, and 2-of-3 free throws.

Ally Cantrill posted 18 points off the bench for GU.

Savana Powell-Goodman contributed 14 points, and Emily Reinneck provided 10 points.

The top rebounder for GU was Reinneck with six, and she also led the team with five assists and three steals. Cantrill also added three steals.

The Panthers (17-7, 9-4 SLIAC) will go to Fontbonne for a game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
