Women's Basketball Falls Against Webster

Madison Nelson had a dominating afternoon with a season-high 25 points on 8-of-18 shooting. Mallory Ronshausen finished with 14 points, while Ja'mise Bailey added 11 points.
The Gorloks put the Griffins in an early hole taking a 10-0 lead at the 6:46 mark on Bethany Lancaster's layup. They maintained that double-digit lead the rest of the way owning a 33-15 advantage after one.
Webster shot 63.6 percent from the floor in the first, while Fontbonne was limited to a 33.3 field goal percentage.
In the second quarter, the Gorloks stayed hot from the floor shooting 57.1 percent and owning a 13-7 advantage on the glass. Defensively, they held Fontbonne to under 20.0 percent shooting allowing them to take a 53-30 lead into the locker room.
In the third, the Griffins trailed 67-31 with 4:53 remaining. From then on, though the Griffins dominated closing out the quarter on a 19-2 run putting them down 69-50 heading into the fourth.
Fontbonne shot 30.0 percent in the third and were aggressive on the glass as they outrebounded Webster, 15-8.
Despite shooting an improved 41.7 percent from the floor in the fourth, the Gorloks held its double-digit lead the final 10:00 minutes going on for the 21-point win.
Fontbonne shot 30.0 percent from the field in the game and hit nine 3-pointers. At the free throw line, the Griffins went to the charity-stripe a season-high 37 times and connected on 26 attempts.
Webster, meanwhile, ended the day shooting 56.3 percent from the field and owned a 50-18 advantage in the paint.
