Softball splits Tuesday doubleheader with Webster

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The softball team competed against Webster on Tuesday afternoon and split the doubleheader with the Gorloks. Webster won game one 3-2, and Greenville received a shutout from Melissa Bernal to win the second game 4-0.

Game 1

Webster scored on a solo home run in the top of the fourth, and it took GU until the seventh inning to scratch across a run to force the game to extra innings.

Greenville tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Emma Funk singled to center field, and Taylor Weiss delivered a pinch hit RBI double.

In extra innings, both teams started with a runner on second base, and Webster took advantage with two runs.

Greenville received a two-out RBI single from Desirae Yost to put runners on the corners, but Webster closed out the game.

Yost posted two hits for the Panthers, and starting pitcher Alison Klaus worked all eight innings, permitting three runs, two earned, on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
