The Basics
Set 1: The Griffins owned an 8-6 lead but a 5-0 run by the Beavers had them ahead 11-8 on Jessica Muckensturm's kill. Later, the two teams were all even at 19-19 on Alexa Lofgren's service ace.
However, three straight points from Blackburn gave them the 22-19 advantage. However, the Griffins closed out the set on a 6-1 run capped off by Jadyn Fitzgerald's kill for the 25-23 winner.
Set 2: It was a faster start from Fontbonne in the second with a 9-2 advantage. They continued its dominance in the second with a 22-13 lead on Ella Werner-Click's kill and never let Blackburn get within striking distance winning, 25-17.
Set 3: The Griffins held a marginal lead in the third with Jackie Drury's kill giving them the 14-9 lead. Blackburn continued battling and eventually took a 24-23 lead on Kyleigh Marty's kill. The Griffins, though kept its composure getting a kill from Jordan Harpel to tie it up.
Then, an attack error followed by a solo block from Kristen Kaempfe secured the 26-24 win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Kaempfe had herself a game with a match-high 14 kills and a season-high .650 hitting percentage.
- Jadyn Fitzgerald added nine kills and tied for the match-high with 14 digs.
- Hannah Gallagher contributed seven kills and 10 digs.
- Drury and Harpel finished with four kills each.
- Ella Werner-Click collected her second straight double-double and third in her last four with 34 assists and 13 digs.
- Emma Pramik finished with 12 digs.
