Men's basketball earns overtime win at home over Fontbonne

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's basketball team avenged an early season loss to Fontbonne with a 155-149 win in overtime on Saturday.

Sontiago Grady ended as GU's top scorer with 27 points.

Marvin Bateman led his unit with 20 points.

GU faced a 70-69 deficit at halftime, but they led by as many as 14 points in the first half. Greenville eventually pushed their lead back to 14 points in the second half before Fontbonne tightened the score.

Fontbonne sent the game to overtime at 137-all on a three pointer with 13 seconds remaining in regulation, but the Panthers took control in overtime with an 18-12 advantage in the period.

Eric Williams led the Panthers with eight rebounds, and Dustin Bankowski had seven assists.

The Panthers (9-10, 8-4 SLIAC) play Spalding on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Greenville.
