Women's soccer records 6-0 win over Eureka

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The women's soccer team gained a 6-0 shutout win over Eureka on Saturday night.

Greenville thoroughly dominated the course of play, holding a 32-1 shot advantage. GU posted 11 shots in the first half and 21 in the second half.

Kiera Coleman led the Panthers with two goals. Samantha De La Cruz, Sophie Laughlin, Emma Cadwell, and Molly McDonnell also had a goal.

McDonnell opened the scoring for Greenville in the 16th minute on a penalty kick.

In the 28th minute, Coleman added her first of two goals, and the Panthers carried a 2-0 lead to halftime.

In the 55th minute, Cadwell provided a goal to make the score 3-0.

Before the match completed, Coleman scored her second goal of the night in the 64th minute, Laughlin had a goal in the 78th minute, and De La Cruz provided a goal in the 87th minute.

Greenville collected their seventh conference shutout of the season, all coming in conference play.

Grace Gehner and Carly Wagner split the shutout for Greenville, each posting 45 minutes of net protection.

The Panthers (8-4, 8-1 SLIAC) host Webster on Monday at 7 p.m. in Greenville at Francis Field.
