Women's basketball runs past St. Mary-of-the-Woods

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The women's basketball team was led by a 23-point, 14-rebound outing by freshman Madelyn Stephen and outscored St. Mary-of-the-Woods by a combined total of 53-30 over the first and fourth quarters to gain a 91-75 win at H.J. Long Gymasium on Thursday night.

Greenville made 35-of-43 free throws and outrebounded SMWC 67-47 in the game.

In addition to Stephen's season-highs, Clarissa Duebel put together a double-double effort with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Emily Reinneck recorded 12 points and a team-high four assists.

The Panthers led the entire way, but they saw their lead trimmed to four late in the third quarter before regaining control and expanding the advantage to 19 with 48 seconds to play.

The Panthers (1-2) travel to William Woods in Fulton, Mo., for a game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
