Westminster Men's Soccer Defeats Webster

FENTON, Mo. – The Westminster men's soccer team defeated Webster by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays improve to 2-2 in SLIAC games and 2-9 overall.

Patrick Wisnewski gave the Blue Jays an early lead scoring a goal on a shot from eight yards out. Webster outshot Westminster 10-4 in the first half but Blue Jay goalie Connor Bandre' was able to hold the Gorloks scoreless. Bandre' made three saves in the half.

The Blue Jays extended their lead in the 57th minute when Wisnewski scored his second goal of the match. The goal was assisted by Jordan Kahrhoff. Wisnewski leads Westminster with five goal on the season.

The Gorloks scored a goal in the 84th minute to avoid a shutout. Webster had opportunities to tie the game in the final minutes but both of their shots went wide of the net and Westminster held on for their second win in a row.

Wisnewski led the Blue Jays with four shots and Bandre' played all 90 minutes in net to earn his second win of the season.

The Blue Jays will return home to play Blackburn on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
