Men's soccer gives Spalding first SLIAC loss of the season

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The men's soccer team moved back into a SLIAC tournament qualifying position with a 2-1 victory over Spalding on Wednesday.

The win allowed the Panthers to pull into a fourth place tie with Westminster heading into their final three matches of the season. Spalding was previously unbeaten in conference play.

Greenville received a pair of goals from Napoleon Urquidi in the win.

Urquidi scored his first goal of the match in the 37th minute when Luis Duran fed him a pass, and Urquidi went one-on-one with the keeper before beating him low and to the right.

In the 59th minute, Urquidi picked up his second goal of the night after Jose Soutullo crossed a ball into the box, and Urquidi finished.

Spalding broke up goalkeeper Nick Holland's shutout with a goal in the 86th minute on a free kick.

Greenville managed to record 14 shots in the match with eight shots on goal.

Urquidi led GU with four shots, and Adam Jones added three shots.

The Panthers (8-7, 4-2 SLIAC) host Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday at 5 p.m.
