Women's Basketball Fourth Quarter Comeback Falls Short Against (RV) Tigers

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's basketball team tried to mount a tremendous comeback against (RV) East Texas Baptist in its season opener, but the Tigers fended off Fontbonne for the win.
In the first quarter, the Tigers led 13-6 at the 6:42 mark on Jayla Hall connecting on a 3-point play. The Tigers shot 44.4 percent from the field leading 25-14 after one.
In the second, the Griffins cut the deficit to 30-23 on Jamise Bailey's jumper. The Tigers, though closed out the quarter on a 12-0 run leading by 19 at halftime.
In the third, the Tigers remained in control shooting 66.7 percent from the field stretching its advantage out to 60-33.
In the fourth, the Tigers got a 3-pointer from Millie Dittmar with 9:24 remaining putting them ahead 63-36. Fontbonne started to chip away at the deficit going on a 27-9 run over the next eight minutes as Kourtney White's 3-pointer put Fontbonne down 72-63.
However, despite the Griffins going 4-of-4 from the line to close out the game it was the Tigers fending off Fontbonne for the seven-point win.
