GRINNELL, Iowa - Westminster scored four goals from four different players to overcome Grinnell 4-3, marking the squad's first win.

Westminster improves to 1-1-1 on the year with the win. 

The Pioneers opened up the scoring in the 13th minute, but it wasn't long before the Blue Jays' Philip Udiniywe tallied his first goal of the season to even the score at one goal apiece. 

Brandon Rettke scored his second goal of the year just before the half to go into the locker rooms with Westminster up 2-1. 

"We played a very poor first half and made some simple mistakes that teams like Grinnell will punish," said Head Coach Adam Galla. "The guys responded well in the second half and we found a way to get a big win on the road."

Two goals out of the second half gate were scored by Grinnell's Antonio Dimarco, who notched a hat trick on the game, to retake the lead for the Pioneers. 

The last ten minutes of the game was dominated by Westminster, with Justin Gerdiman tallying his first goal of the season in the 80th minute. Daniel Barone closed the game out with a goal in the 87th minute to end the game in regulation, 4-3. 

Grinnell had the advantage in shots, outshooting Westminster 17-14. Westminster made 11 saves, including seven from Connor Bandre in the second half and four from Raul Belman in the first. 

"I'm pleased with the effort but we need to improve defensively if we want to accomplish our goals," said Galla.

Westminster continues its road trip Saturday, Sept. 9 at McMurry. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
