Women's basketball tops Principia for second time, maintains second place

ELSAH, Ill. - The women's basketball team picked up a 72-67 win at Principia on Saturday, receiving 18 points from Madelyn Stephen in the victory.

Greenville held a 14-12 lead after the first quarter and was up 31-23 at halftime.

The GU Panthers were outscored 23-16 in the third quarter by the PC Panthers, and the score stood at 47-46 after three periods. Greenville solidified the win with a 25-21 advantage in the final quarter.

Savana Powell-Goodman picked up the start and added 14 points to Greenville's total.

Mia deJesus came off the bench to produce 10 points.

Abigail Reinneck finished as the top rebounder in the game with 11 caroms, and Natalie Iberg posted five assists.

Greenville had 10 steals with two collected by Ally Cantrill, Reinneck, and Powell-Goodman. Cantrill also posted two blocked shots.

The Panthers (15-6, 8-2 SLIAC) host Westminster on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
