ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spalding women's basketball team followed a 55-51 win on Friday night with a 91-32 victory against the Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon. Four Golden Eagles were in double-digits, led by
Maya Hardin with 20 and seven rebounds.
Things started well for the Golden Eagles as they began the game on a 15-2 run, led by Hardin's seven early points. They would go on to lead after one period 29-11 on 52 percent shooting. Hardin finished with 11 points.
Spalding would open things up for good in the second period holding ITT to just four points on 2-of-8 shooting. The Golden Eagles would go to the halftime break with a 57-15 lead, led by Hardin with 15 points at the half.
The second half would be much of the same as Spalding would hold ITT to 17 second half points, including just five in the fourth period. The Golden Eagles forced 31 turnovers, scoring 39 points on those turnovers.
Spalding would shoot 47 percent for the game and hit 8-of-18 three-point attempts. The Golden Eagles would assist on 21 of 34 made shots, led by
Dee Dee Sliter's seven assists.
Spalding will be back in action Tuesday when they head to Danville, Ky. to take on Centre. The Golden Eagles and Colonels tipoff at 7:00 p.m. EST at Alumni Gymnasium.
