Tigers Pounce On Spaulding In 3-0 Win

Alliance, OH – The Wittenberg women's soccer team closed out their trip to the Mount Union Kickoff Classic with a 3-0 win over Spalding University on day two of Sunday afternoon. The Tigers went into the break knotted up at 0-0 with the Eagles, as Wittenberg posted 15 shots through the first 45 minutes. Wittenberg played lockdown defense for 90 minutes, with Spalding only getting off two shots in the game.

Game Breakdown

Three separate Tigers got involved in the scoring, with Amy Bidwill breaking the stalemate in the 57th minute and scoring her first collegiate goal. Kaitlyn Krieg tallied her second assist of the season, finding Carly Stang for the second Wittenberg goal at the 61:42 mark. Jasmine Evans put the final Tiger goal in the back of the net in the 66th minute, sealing the 3-0 win. The Tigers tallied 10 corner kicks and 28 shots in the game. Kelly Corbin and Emma Schewe combined for the shutout.

From The Bench

"We felt like we laid a really good foundation in yesterday's game and the goal today was to build on that. The players are really starting to gel and we are excited to open up with two wins this weekend," said Head Coach Katie Robinson.
