ELSAH, Ill. – The Fontbonne University baseball team opened the three-game series against Principia College with a 19-0 shutout in seven innings this Thursday evening. The Griffins improve to 15-8 on the season.

The Griffins opened the score with Colby Shivers hitting a double to left field to score Ty Kueper and Eric Creech.
Trey Kueper hit a single scoring next Colby Shivers and Thomas Purschke. Next, Trey Kueper scored unearned extending the Griffins' lead to 5-0. Eric Creech hit an RBI single to score Bryce McKinnon.
Matt Helm's two RBI single to left field Eric Creech and Jack Wood. Ty Kueper scored unearned.
Thomas Purschke and Matt Helm concluded the first inning with two more runs off Colby Shivers double, 11-0.
In the second inning, Ty Kueper hit a single to score Bryce McKinnon.
Jack Wood scored unearned in the fourth.
Matt Helm and Trey Purschke both smashed a homer to increase the lead to 15-0.
Carter Lee scored on Bryce McKinnon's sacrifice fly in the fifth.
Paul Wilson hit a two RBI single to center field to score Zac Burgherr and D Groves.
Noah Sainato hit an RBI to score Nate Walker in the seventh, plating the 19th and final run of the game.
Gavin Kinworthy (5-2) took the win on the mound. He pitched 6.0 innings and struck out five while allowing two hits. Camdem Coleman pitched 1.0 inning and struck out two.
The Griffins outhit Principia, 21-2.
