ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's basketball team cruised to an 87-58 win over Mississippi University for Women on Sunday.
In the first quarter, the Griffins led 16-10 at the 2:54 mark on Ja'mise Bailey's layup. The Owls, though kept hanging around taking a 21-20 advantage with 56.0 seconds remaining on Conley Langford's 3-pointer.
However, prior to the quarter ending, the Griffins got a bucket from Madison Nelson on an inbound play giving them the 22-21 lead.
The second quarter belonged to the Griffins shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and outscoring the Owls 20-4 which gave them a commanding 42-25 lead at the break.
It continued to be the same story in the second half with Fontbonne outscoring the Owls a combined 45-33 as they cruised to the 29-point win.
