Women's basketball drops six point decision at Crowley's Ridge

PARAGOULD, Ark. - A 24-15 second quarter advantage propelled Crowley's Ridge to a nine-point lead at halftime, and the deficit proved too much for the women's basketball team to overcome on Saturday afternoon. Greenville's top scoring duo of Madelyn Stephen and Emily Reinneck provided Greenville with a combined total of 31 points, but GU fell 73-67 against the Pioneers.

The first quarter ended with the game tied at 16-all, and Greenville shaved six points off their halftime deficit by outscoring Crowley's Ridge 17-11 in the third quarter. The Panthers kept chipping away and had opportunities to tie the game in the final two minutes of the game, but they could not break through.

Stephen and Reinneck each made 7-of-15 field goal attempts, and Stephen added a three-pointer and two free throws to post 17 points. Reinneck finished with 14 points.

The Panthers outrebounded Crowley's Ridge 44-37 and were led by Stephen and Alyssa Seymour with seven caroms. Stephen and Ally Cantrill posted a team-high three assists, and Reinneck added a team-leading three steals.

The Panthers made 26-of-72 field goal attempts (36.1 percent) and 3-of-18 three-pointers (16.7 percent). Greenville went 12-of-16 at the free throw line to post a 75 percent mark.
