Women's Basketball Unable To Overcome Panthers Fourth Quarter Surge In Loss
ST. LOUIS, Mo.-- The Fontbonne University women’s basketball fell 78-71 in its regular season finale against Greenville on Saturday. The Griffins go to 13-12 overall and 8-6 in the SLIAC. Greenville improved to 18-7 and 11-3 in SLIAC play.

Prior to the game, the Griffins honored fifth-year senior Kourtney White, along with seniors Haley Buscher and Amaya Earls.
The Griffins had three players in double-figures led by Madison Nelson with 22 points on 9-of-17 shooting. Kourtney White added 15 points, while Ja'mise Bailey ended with 12.
In the first quarter, the Griffins led 10-6 at the 6:06 mark after White capped off her three-point play with a made free throw. The Panthers and Griffins went back-and-forth the rest of the quarter finishing tied up at 16-16.
In the second, the Panthers grabbed a 25-24 lead with 6:40 remaining. Fontbonne met up with Greenville, 30-30, with 3:57 left after Bailey went 1-of-2 from the line. However, the Panthers closed out the quarter on a 10-3 run leading by seven at the break.
The Griffins came out on all cylinders, though in the third outscoring Greenville 22-6 through seven minutes of action taking a 55-46 lead on consecutive three-pointers from Kya Harbour.
Fontbonne kept its foot on the gas the final three minutes finishing out the quarter on a 5-0 run capped off by another three-pointer from Harbour giving them a 62-50 lead.
The Griffins shot an impressive 70.6 percent from the floor in the third. Harbour led off the bench with nine points, while Nelson and White tallied seven each.
The script-flipped in the fourth, however, as the Panthers outscored Fontbonne 28-9 securing the come-from-behind seven-point victory.
Fontbonne shot 45.2 percent from the floor in the game and drained 12 three-pointers. Greenville held a 37-26 advantage on the glass.

The Griffins will enter the SLIAC Tournament as the No. 4 seed and will host No. 5 Principia on Tuesday. Tip-off at 7 p.m.
