Westminster's Hughes Named D3baseball.com Preseason All-American
Westminster College junior Deion Hughes has been named to the 2015 D3baseball.com Preseason All-American team. Hughes was named Third Team as a utility player by D3baseball.com which used the previous years' All-American and All-Region teams to compile the team.
Hughes, from Jefferson City, Mo., was named SLIAC First Team All-Conference last season and helped his team to a 21-14 overall record. Hughes is leader for the Blue Jays both at the plate and the mound. Hughes hit .361 last season with one home run and 26 runs batted in with an on-base percentage of .434. On the rubber Hughes made nine starts, going 8-1, with a 1.94 earned-run average and 79 strikeouts in 55.2 innings pitched.
