Griffin Racks Up Two More Honors For Stellar Week

Webster's Aaron Griffin, already selected as the SLIAC Player of the Week, was recognized by two more outlets for his stellar play this past week for the Webster University men's basketball team.

The Gorloks' 6'7 senior center from Farm Haven, MS (Velma Jackson HS) was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for January 19-25.  Griffin was joined by players from New York University, DeSales (PA), Worcester Polytechnic (MA), and St. Joseph's (ME).  For the full D3hoops.com team description, click HERE.

Griffin was also named the earlaustinjr.com Area College Player of the Week for his performance this past week.  Earlaustinjr.com is a website devoted to basketball in the St. Louis region.  The Area College Player of the Week distinction encompasses play for all college teams, men and women, in the St. Louis region.  You can read about Griffin's selection HERE.

Griffin led Webster in scoring and rebounding last week, averaging 18 points and 11 rebounds in a pair of wins over Blackburn College and Westminster College.  For the week, Griffin shot 63% (12-19) from the field and 75% (12-14) from the free-throw line.

He has had five 'double-doubles' (games with 10 or more points and rebounds) in the Gorloks' last seven games.  Griffin is averaging 14 points and 11 rebounds per game over that seven-game stretch, and 11.9 points and 7.6 rebounds for the season.
