Spalding Men's Basketball Hosts Series Of Youth Clinics

he Spalding University men's basketball team hosted a series of basketball clinics for the students at Meredith-Dunn School and The de Paul School in Louisville, Ky.

Meredith-Dunn and The de Paul School, both, provide a unique educational experience catered to students with different learning challenges. Both schools focus on the individuality of the student in an effort to maximize their full potential. Collaborative work among educators, families, and the community help the students to become educated, self-confident members of society.

SU's men's basketball team was proud to give back to the community by visiting the two schools, and hosting four clinics, for the students. The fourth through eighth graders traveled to different stations, working directly with SU student-athletes, on their ball handling skills and full court drills. Head coach, Kevin Gray, "was honored that two schools, doing great work, allowed the team to work with their students, teaching the fundamentals of basketball."

The students, as well as the athletes benefited from the experience. Junior, James Abrams, "felt privileged to have the opportunity to give back to the community."

To summarize, Coach Gray believed "it was a fun-filled day, with great kids!"

The Golden Eagles are just under a month out from their season opener. SU will open the season against New Jersey City University at the Dan Greene Memorial Invitational in St. Mary's, Maryland.
