Golden Eagles takedown No. 23 Emory, 3-1

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University men's soccer team upset No. 23 ranked Emory University, 3-1, Saturday at the 26th Annual Bob Allen Classic in Danville, Ky.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- SU goalkeeper Logan Spencer stopped EU forward Sebastian Hardington's attempt from finding the back of the net in the 3rd minute.
- The Golden Eagles made the most of their first shot attempt. Julio DeLeon fired the shot into the upper left corner of the net in the 28th minute to give SU a 1-0 advantage heading into the half.
- On their second goal, DeLeon found the foot of Cory House who fired the shot past the EU keeper to push the SU margin to 2-0 in the 61st minute.
- Matt Sherr cut the SU lead to one putting in the rebound off an Austin Mirabella shot to make the score 2-1.
- Jacob Holehan found Cory House for a header in the 77th minute to extend the Eagles lead back to two goals.

KEY STATS
- Goalkeeper Logan Spencer (3-2) earned the win, stopping six of seven shots on goal.
- Julio DeLeon moved into a tie for first in the SLIAC in assists with three. DeLeon also ranks second in the conference in goals (2) and points (7).
- With two goals, junior Cory House registered his first multi-goal game as a Golden Eagle.

UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles will be back on the pitch Tuesday at 3 p.m. EST, hosting their home opener against regional rival Hanover College at Champions Trace.
