Teubner Shatters Blue Jays 3000 Meter Record

Westminster College junior Glenn Teubner opened the 2016 outdoor season at the CMU Open by shattering the four-year old 3000-meter run record by almost 20 seconds. The men's track and field team placed 10th with a total of 17 points.

Teubner placed third in the 3000-meter run with a final time of 9:19.33, breaking the 2012 record of 9:34.55. The third place finish earned the team six points. Senior Jesse Edwards ran the 3000-meter with Teubner, placing fifth and earning four points for the team with his 9:23.49 time.

Teubner and Edwards also ran the 1500-meter run. Teubner placed fifth earning four more points for the team. He crossed the finish line in 4:24.28, and Edwards placed 12th with a time of 4:29.03.

Junior Ryan Dyer earned two points for the team with a seventh place 2:04.70 finish in the 800-meter run. Freshman Kole Rackers also competed in the 800-meter and placed 18th (2:13.04).

Sophomore Addison Conway earned the remaining point for the Blue Jays with an eighth place 1:04.73 finish in the 400-meter hurdles.

Senior Brooklyn McCoy competed in the 100-meter dash and placed 19th (13.27).

The Blue Jays compete in their second outdoor meet of the season on Thursday, March 24, at the Wildcat Open hosted by Culver-Stockton.
