2017 Softball Players of the Week

April 30
(Hitter) Katlyn Garza, Webster University
Webster University junior Katlyn Garza is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week. Garza, from O'Fallon, Mo., exploded for seven hits in a doubleheader against Rose-Hulman. In game one she was 4-for-4 with a home run and four runs batted in. She followed with a 3-for-4 performance in game two, driving in another run. On the week she hit .875 with five runs batted in and a 1.375 slugging percentage.

(Pitcher) Morgan Mansur, Webster University
Morgan Mansur is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Mansur, a junior at Webster University, helped the Gorloks by coming out of the bullpen twice last week. Mansur worked 4 2/3 innings in game one of a doubleheader against Rose-Hulman. She picked up the win, allowing no runs on six hits. She came back in game two for another inning of work, striking out two batters.

April 24
(Hitter) Krysten Wallace, Eureka College
Krysten Wallace, from Eureka College, is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week after leading the Red Devils offense to four conference wins. Wallace hit .714 with three runs batted in and three stolen bases on the week. She also drew four walks and finished the week with a .833 on-base percentage. Wallace's best game was her 3-for-3 day that helped spark a Red Devil come from behind win over Fontbonne.

(Pitcher) Kali George, Eureka College
The SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week is Kali George, from Eureka College. George, a junior from East Peoria, Ill., picked up two conference wins in the circle last week for the Red Devils including the program's first win over Fontbonne since 2008. George worked 12 scoreless innings, allowing just six hits while striking out four and walking none.

APRIL 17
(Hitter) Becca Oldham, Greenville College
Becca Oldham led Greenville to four conference wins last week, hitting .650 with four home runs and 11 runs batted in. Oldham, a junior from Greenville, Ill., put together four multi-hit games on the week and finished with an on-base percentage of .652 and a .1300 slugging percentage. She was 13-of-20 at the plate with five runs scored on the week. Her best day was a doubleheader against Spalding in which she went 6-for-8 with a home run and four RBI.

(Pitcher) Alyson Hahn, Westminster College
Alyson Hahn in the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 17 after picking up two wins in three starts. Hahn notched wins over Principia and Webster last week, both complete game shutouts. She also went 6 2/3 innings against Fontbonne, striking out 11 while allowing two earned runs earlier in the week. On the week she held a 0.71 earned-run average and struck out 24 batters in 19 2/3 innings pitched.

APRIL 10
(Hitter) Lindsey Hubbard, Spalding University
This week's SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week is Lindsey Hubbard, a sophomore infielder from Spalding University. Hubbard set the table for the Golden Eagles offense last week, hitting .739 over six games. At one point during the week she recorded hits in 14 straight at bats, just three shy of the NCAA Division III record. Hubbard had three four-hit games on the week, scoring a total of eight runs while also recording four stolen bases. She finished the week going 17-of-23 at the plate and added a .952 fielding percentage.

(Pitcher) Brianna Anderson, Greenville College
Brianna Anderson picks up the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week award after notching a pair of conference wins in the circle last week for Greenville. Anderson, a senior from Geff, Ill., came on in relief of the first game of a doubleheader against MacMurray, throwing 2 1/3 innings and allowing no hits while striking out six. She followed up with a win in game two, working five scoreless innings and allowing just one hit while striking out six. On the week she threw 7 1/3 innings of scoreless ball while striking out 12 and allowing just one hit.

APRIL 3
(Hitter) Aubrie Vaughn, Westminster College
Aubrie Vaughn is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week. Vaughn, a freshman infielder for Westminster College, hit .545 with two home runs and nine runs batted in while helping the Blue Jays pick up four conference wins. Vaughn busted out in a doubleheader against Spalding, going 5-for-7 with two home runs; both grand slams with one coming in each game of the doubleheader. On the week she finished 6-for-11 at the plate with four runs scored and a 1.273 slugging percentage.

(Pitcher) Alyson Hahn, Westminster College
Alyson Hahn is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 3 after picking up two career highlight wins last week for Westminster College. Hahn, a senior, became the school's career leader in wins after recording two wins over conference opponents. She picked up a five-inning win over MacMurray, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out seven. She set the new career mark in a 5-2 victory over Spalding, working seven innings and allowing two runs on three hits while striking out 12 batters. On the week she threw 12 innings, striking out 19 batters and walking just four while allowing only six hits.

MARCH 27
(Hitter) Madaline Kane, Eureka College
Madaline Kane, from Eureka College, is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for March 27. Kane led the Red Devils offense to 19 runs in a double header sweep of Robert Morris-Springfield. Kane, a sophomore from Havana, Ill., finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with five runs batted in. She picked was 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI in game one and followed in game two by going 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBI. She finishes the week with a batting average of .750 and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

(Pitcher) Kali George, Eureka College
Kali George is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. George, a junior from East Peoria, Ill., picked up a shutout win for Eureka in game one of a double header against Robert Morris-Springfield. George worked five scoreless innings in the win, allowing just four hits while striking out five.

MARCH 20
(Hitter) Kate Jolliff, Greenville College
Kate Jolliff is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week for March 20. Jolliff, a junior from Mulberry Grove, Ill., hit had three multi-hit games on the week including a four hit outing. Jolliff also drove in a run in five of her team's seven games on the week. She finished the week with a .524 batting average and two home runs with 11 runs batted in while compiling a 1.238 slugging percentage. Jolliff finished 11-of-21 at the plate with eight runs scored while adding three doubles and a stolen base.

(Pitcher) Morgan Mansur, Webster University
Morgan Mansur, a junior from Decatur, Ill., is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Mansur picked up a complete game shutout win for the Gorloks in her only appearance on the week. Mansur notched a 7-0 win over North Park, throwing all seven innings while allowing just two hits. Mansur struck out six batters while walking none. On the season Mansur is 5-1 overall with a 2.33 earned-run average and two shutout wins.

MARCH 13
(Hitter) Kerrigan Dura, Eureka College
Kerrigan Dura, a sophomore infielder, is the SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week. Dura, who joined the Red Devils softball team less than 24 hours after playing for the basketball team, promptly hit .471 over six games in Myrtle Beach. Dura had three multi-hit games, driving in five runs and stealing one base. She also added two triples, both coming in an 18-4 win over John Jay. Her best game was her season debut when she went 3-for-4 with two RBI in a 9-2 win over Hilbert. On the week she finished 8-for-17 at the plate with five runs scored and a .591 on-base percentage.

(Pitcher) Chelsea Thornley, Webster University
Chelsea Thornley is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Thornley, a junior for Webster University, recorded her fifth win of the season last week in helping the Gorloks to their best start to a season since 2000. Thornley went eight innings in a 5-3 win over Nebraska Wesleyan, allowing just one earned run on seven hits while striking out three. She also worked five innings, striking out six, against Bethel and threw two innings of hitless relief work against Millsaps. On the week Thornley finished with a 2.33 earned-run average with 9 strikeouts over 15 innings pitched.

MARCH 6
(Hitter) Abby Burroughs, Webster University
This week's SLIAC Softball Hitter of the Week is Abby Burroughs from Webster University. Burroughs, a freshman, made an immediate impact for the Gorloks at the plate; hitting .519 with two home runs and 13 runs batted in while helping Webster start the year with eight straight wins. Burroughs reached base in all eight games including notching hits in six of them. She had four multi-hit games on the week including a 4-for-5 game against Rhodes in which she added three runs scored with one home run and four RBI. Burroughs added a second four RBI game when she powered the Gorloks to a win over Robert Morris-Springfield. On the week she finished with an .852 slugging percentage and 12 runs scored while going 14-of-27 at the plate.

(Pitcher) Erin Smith, Eureka College
Erin Smith, from Eureka College, is the SLIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 6. Smith, a freshman from Dunlap, Ill., had a memorable collegiate debut for the Red Devils last week in a 13-0 win over Lehman. Smith recorded a perfect game in the five-inning win. She allowed no base runners while striking out six over the five innings and helping the Red Devils to their first win of the 2017 season.
