Ingram Records No-Hitter in Blue Jays Sweep

Westminster softball easily defeats MacMurray in two five-inning games, remaining undefeated in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. Madison Ingram pitched a no-hitter in game two to blank the Highlanders.

The Blue Jays improve to 8-12 overall and 4-0 in the conference. 

"We came out hot under terrible conditions and hit the ball hard," said Westminster Head Coach Joe Henderson. "I was very pleased with our focus to get the job done despite the cold temperature and wind chill. We had a lot of energy and everyone contributed."

In game one, Westminster's biggest inning was in the top of the first, scoring six runs, including a triple from Amber Tepen to score two runs. Tepen then scored a run herself by advancing home on a wild pitch. Tepen hit two triples on the day. 

Mackenzie Myers led the team offensively with four hits for five RBI, including two doubles. Myers also scored three runs. Tepen and Callie Collier also recorded multiple RBI, Tepen with three and Collier with two. 

After Westminster made the score 16-0 going into the bottom of the fifth, but spoiled the shutout victory by giving up one run to make the final score 16-1. 

Katie Price pitched all five innings, giving up one run on three hits and striking out eight. 

Ingram started game two and was able to earn the shutout win along with pitching a no-hitter, the first of her career. She gave up five walks that prevented a perfect game. 

The Westminster offense backed up Ingram's strong pitching, which included a 10-run fourth inning to seal the 21-1 win. 

Emily Holloway hit two triples to lead the way with six RBI in the game, followed by multiple RBI games from Price, Samantha Henderson, Tepen, and Myers. 

Ingram struck out nine in the no-hitter, walking five. 

"We are still hitting a few speed bumps but we are working through them," said Henderson.

The Blue Jays travel to Webster for its next conference matchup Wednesday. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 5 p.m.
