Greenville Season Ends Against Franklin

Greenville Season Ends Against Franklin

The third NCAA tournament appearance for the softball team ended on Saturday with a 10-0 four and a half inning loss to Franklin.  The Panthers saw their tournament schedule postponed on Friday due to rain, but the tournament organizers brought forward a new schedule that extended play to Monday.

Greenville fell behind in the first inning 1-0, and Franklin put a six on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth.  The Grizzlies ended the game after five innings when they reached a 10-0 lead.

Greenville's heart of the order had Greenville's hits.  Josie Koontz, Becca Oldham, and Kate Jolliff Rosado each had one safety.  No other Panthers recorded a base hit.

Caitie Opp started in the circle and went two innings.  Maegan Stone relieved Opp and gave up six runs in one inning.  Kendall Farr closed the game.

The Panthers (21-17) were SLIAC tournament champions for the fourth time overall.
