Darby Massner

Darby Massner (FR/Mediapolis, IA) put the Tigers on the board and gave them a one point lead after hitting a three pointer with 8:31 to go in the first quarter.  Dakota Flesner (SR/Payson, IL) tied the game up at 5-5, but Blackburn went on a run that gave them a 10-5 lead with just under three minutes to play.  Kate Ray (SR/New Sharon, IA) hit a jumper to cut the lead to three, but the Beavers answered with a three pointer.  Darby Massner followed with two three pointers to close out the first quarter to tie the game up at the end of the period.

Dakota Flesner gave the Tigers their second lead of the game with a layup in the paint. With 3:31 to go in the second period, Kate Ray scored on a jumper to give Iowa Wesleyan a five point lead, their largest of the game to that point.  Blackburn did not let up and tied the game up at 23-23 with 2:21 remaining in the half.  With 25 seconds to go, Darby Massner sank another three which gave the Tigers an eight point advantage.  The Beavers got a layup to close out the half, and trailed 31-25 as the teams headed to the locker room.

Iowa Wesleyan had a huge third quarter, scoring 34 points to break away from the Beavers. Darby Massner and Kaylee Moseley (SR/Taylor Ridge, IL) opened the quarter with three pointers.  Jaimie Hurd (JR/Sterling, IL) sank a pair of free throws with 7:44 left in the quarter to give IW a 16 point lead.  The Beavers would get within eleven, but could not get any closer than that as the Tigers continued to extend their lead.  At the end of the period, Iowa Wesleyan held a 65-34 lead over Blackburn.

IW only scored eleven points in the final period, but it was enough to keep them ahead.  Blackburn continued to pressure the Tigers and came within 20 points of the Tigers, but once again, Massner connected from behind the arc to answer.  Julie Hurd (FR/Sterling, IL) scored the final points of the game with a pair of free throws after getting fouled on a fast break layup.

Darby Massner had a huge game for the Tigers.  She had a career high 32 points and tied the women's basketball record for three pointers made in a game with 10.  Massner finished the game with 32 points, four rebounds, and four steals.  Dakota Flesner added 17 points in the win, shooting 7-12 from the field and grabbing five rebounds.  Kaylee Moseley was 4-9 from the field and 3-8 from behind the arc to finish the game with 11 points.  Cairece Allen (JR/Moline, IL) had a team high seven rebounds in the win.
