2017 Women's Tennis Players of the Week

APRIL 17 - CAITLIN CARNEY, PRINCIPIA COLLEGE
Principia College's Caitlin Carney went undefeated in six conference outings last week, playing at #3 singles and #1 doubles. Carney edged out her rival Webster for a 7-5, 7-6 (5) win, and added identical 6-0, 6-1 scores in her other two singles matches. Carney tacked on three more wins in doubles, teaming with Paige Cooley.

APRIL 10 - MARIANA ROGERS, FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY
Mariana Rogers is the SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week after putting together a memorable week for the Fontbonne University team. Rogers picked up four singles wins including three coming against conference opponents. Playing in the top spot, Rogers swept Blackburn, helping mark the first known sweep by a Griffin against a conference member in program history. Rogers also played #1 doubles, where she added two more wins.

APRIL 3- MONICA BEHRLE, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
For the fourth time this season Webster University's Monica Behrle has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week. Behrle, a junior from Atlanta, Ga., went undefeated last week, notching two wins at #1 singles and two more wins at #1 doubles. She defeated her singles opponent from Greenville in straight sets and followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win against Fontbonne. She is now 16-9 overall this season and won eight of her last nine singles matches.

MARCH 20 - MONICA BEHRLE, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
Monica Behrle picks up her third SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week award after rolling through her competition during the team's spring break trip to South Carolina. Behrle recorded seven total wins on the week, including four wins at #1 singles in which she won eight straight sets. Behrle added two more wins at #1 doubles, teaming up with Madison Watts in 8-4 and 8-5 victories.

MARCH 13 - MONICA BEHRLE, WEBSTER UNIVERISTY
Monica Behrle, a junior from Atlanta, Ga., claims her second straight SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week award after notching two wins on the week. Playing in the #1 position for the Gorloks, Behrle registered an impressive come from behind win over Culver-Stockton. After dropping the opening set 6-3, Behrle blanked her opponent 6-0 in the second set. She closed out the match by winning 10-0 in a tiebreaker. Behrle also recorded an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles over Culver-Stockton.

MARCH 6 - MONICA BEHRLE, WEBSTER UNIVERSITY
Monica Behrle is the SLIAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the first week of the award this spring. Behrle picked up two combined wins on the week, winning at #1 singles and at #2 doubles. She defeated her singles opponent from Division II foe McKendree University by the score of 6-3, 6-2. Teaming with Jesse Steffens-Willis she added an 8-6 win in doubles over Cornell College.
