Greenville Women Run Away With SLIAC Invitational Title

RESULTS

The Greenville College women's track and field team ran away with the team title at the 2016 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Invitational. The Panthers won 13 events, totalin 271 team points.

Chelsea Giles paced Greenville by winning both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. She finished with a time of 24.97 seconds in the 200 and 56.95 second in the 400 meter. Alex Gregory added a first place finish in the 100 meter dash (12.65) and finished second behind Giles in the 200. Sherridan Noll, second place, and Brooke Goodyear, third place, added strong showings in the 800 meter run. In addition Goodyear took first in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:58.88. Lia Kruse tacked on another first place finish for Greenville in the 5000 meter run. Molly Works grabbed a first place finish in the 3000 meter steeplechae while teammates Megan McKee and Shirley Estes took second and third. Sierah Ruffner (High Jump) and Rachel Hanna (Pole Vault) added fist place finishes as did Janisha Pealer (Long Jump) and Michaela Harris (Triple Jump). The Greenville women's 4x100 meter relay team also grabbed a first place finish as did the 4x400 meter relay team. Marideth Tate picked up a first place finish in the hammer throw

Webster University finished second with 118 points. Donalda Desir took second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:00.53 and finished third in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.57. Her teammate Meghan Illig joined in on the podium, placing third in the 400 meter dash. Illig took two first place finishes, sitting atop the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meter hurdles. Lexie Salamone added a second place showing in the 1500 meter run.

Spalding University was third with 78 points and was led by Katie Suiters, who had three top two finishes. She notched two first place finishes for the Golden Eagles by taking first in the shot put and the discus; while adding a second place finish in the javelin. Kayla Riggs took first place in the 800 meter run, completing the event in a time of 2:20.03 while Kayla Payne took third place in the 1500 meter run.

Fontbonne University took fourth place with 65 points. Gabrielle Cruts was edged out in the 100 meter dash, finishing second with a time of 12.77 seconds. Kelly Mundwiller had a first place showing in the javelin and added a third place showing in the hammer throw. Lynsey Wehrenberg picked up points for the Griffins with a third place finish in the javelin.

Westminster College placed fifth with 36 points with Jessica Kuykendal leading the way with a first place finish in the 10,000 meter run. Taylor Howard picked up points for the Blue Jays by placing second in the 400 meter hurdles.

Eureka College finished sixth with four total team points. Ellen Goins took fourth place in the 400 meter dash, with a time of 1:02.76.
