Rountree Headed To U.S. Women's National Volleyball Team Tryouts

ELSAH, ILL. – Principia College's senior outside hitter, Tess Rountree will take part in the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts on Feb. 20-22 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
 
Rountree finished this season ranked #1 in NCAA DIII for points per set (6.22) and #2 in the nation for kills per set with 5.27, and was also selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All Region Honorable Mention team.
 
Rountree led the SLIAC in kills per set and total kills and was in the top 5 for several other categories, including digs per set, total digs and aces per set.  She was selected as the back to back St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Player of the Year and she also made it on the SLIAC First Team All Conference.  For Principia, Rountree is #1 all time for digs and solo blocks and she is #2 all time for total kills and kills per game.
 
Head coach Mary Ann Sprague comments, " Tess is the real deal.  She is powerful, smart, and very athletic.  I truly believe that Tess has the ability to play at the next level, and I am happy she has this opportunity to participate in the tryout."

Rountree will be one of 240 athletes from 98 colleges and universities that are participating in the tryouts. Tryouts are for spots on the U.S. Women's National Team, U.S. Collegiate National Teams program and U.S. Junior National Team. "I'm really grateful for this opportunity to play with some of the best players in the country" said Rountree.
 
Karch Kiraly, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and U.S. Olympic Hall of Famer and the U.S. Women's National Team staff will lead the tryout process.
