Hughes Named Spalding Director of Athletics Communication

Noah Hughes has been named the Director of Athletics Communication at Spalding, Athletics Director Brian Clinard announced today.

Hughes officially begins his duties with Spalding next Monday.

He will lead all day-to-day operations of the athletics communication office and assist in event management. As part of his duties, Hughes will also oversee all website maintenance of SpaldingAthletics.com and manage the department's social media presence on all platforms.

"I want to thank AD Brian Clinard for giving me the opportunity to join the athletic department at Spalding," Hughes said. "All 16 teams at SU are poised for continued success and I cannot wait to start sharing the stories of those Golden Eagle squads.

"Returning home to Kentucky, where I also started my athletics communication career, is a dream come true."

Prior to Spalding, Hughes worked at Maryville College (Tenn.) in the Athletic Communications office. At Maryville, he shared contact duties for all 16 of the institution's sports with Assistant Athletics Director for Communications John Painter.

Hughes also previously spent time leading the athletics communication effort for all 14 of Northern Michigan University's NCAA Division II sports, as well as the DI nordic skiing team and the USCSA alpine skiing team. He covered two Wildcat teams that advanced to GLIAC Tournament championships - including the 2020-21 GLIAC Regular Season and Tournament champion women's volleyball team.

After spending three years as a work-study employee in the Berea College athletic department, Hughes worked as a Graduate Assistant for Union College (Ky.) and the Appalachian Athletic Conference. After seven months as a GA, he was promoted to Assistant Director of Sports Communications at Union under director Jay Stancil. Hughes was the primary contact for 11 teams in Barbourville.

Hughes graduated from Berea College in 2019, earning his bachelor's degree in Communication. He is a native of Cumberland, Kentucky, and is married to the former Erin Alexander.
