SAAC Members Come Together for Military Members

On Veterans Day weekend student-athletes from the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference gathered to put together care packages and write personal notes for military service members. At the end of its fall meeting, the student-athletes and campus SAAC advisors filled bags with snacks, mints, granola bars, hand warmers, and vitamin supplements before including personalized hand-written notes for each bag. Over 50 bags will be donated to Operation Gratitude, a non-profit organization that delivers care packages overseas to service members.

"I am always impressed by the character of our student-athletes and their desire to give back to communities and help change the world," said SLIAC Associate Commissioner and SAAC advisor Brian Lovellette. "It was fitting that the project they chose for the meeting was to show their support and encouragement for military members and that it coincided with Veterans Day weekend."

SAAC members are expected to represent student-athletes viewpoints on their respective campuses and serve as a vital communication link between the Conference and its student-athletes. SAAC members also look to enhance the image of student-athletes on campus and in the community by engaging in campus and community service projects and serving as positive role models for their peers and younger athletes. The committee also serves as a voice for issues that involve rules, regulations, and policies that affect student-athletes. For more information on joining SAAC please reach out to SLIAC Associate Commissioner, Brian Lovellette at sid@sliac.org
