Greenville Holds Lead, Webster Closes in on All-Sports Race

Greenville University holds onto its lead in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Sports Trophy race but Webster University closed in on that lead, down by just one point heading into the spring season. 

Greenville leads the way with 63 total points, picking up first-place points during the winter sports season from championships in both men's and women's indoor track and field. They also added seven points from a second-place finish in women's basketball. 

Webster University, which trailed by three points after the fall sports season, is now by just one point with its 62-point total. The Gorloks picked up 29.5 of a possible 32 points during the winter sports season with its first-place finish in women's basketball and tying for first in men's basketball. They also had second-place showings in track and field. 

Remaining in third place in the standings is Fontbonne University with 54.5 total points. The Griffins added 20.5 points during the winter with 7.5 of those points coming in men's basketball where they tied for first place. 

Principia College nearly doubled its point total from the fall and currently has 43.5 points. They had strong third-place finishes in men's and women's track and field and tied for 4th place in men's basketball. 

Eureka College is just behind in fifth place with 40.5 points. The Red Devils' best finish was in men's basketball where they tied for 4th place. 

The next two teams are separated by just 3.5 points with Westminster College coming in 6th place with 35.5 points. The Blue Jays had over half their points during the winter come from its women's basketball team which finished in 3rd place. 

Spalding University has 32 total points with five of those coming from a 4th place finish at the men's indoor track and field championship. 

Blackburn College sits in eighth place with 20 total points as they combined for six points at the track and field championships. 

After not factoring into the winter sports seasons, the SLIAC golf affiliate schools return for spring play. Grinnell College is the leader among the group with 13 points and is followed by Illinois College with 12 points and Lake Forest College with 11 points. Knox College and Monmouth College did not field full teams in women's golf during the fall season and therefore have not accumulated any points.
