The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for April 17, 2023

Diamond Sports Baseball Hitter of the Week
  Ethan Tuttle, Spalding University

A sophomore infielder, Tuttle hit .571 with 1 home run and 8 RBI while scoring 8 times last week. He had hits in all four games, recording three multiple-hit games including a high of three hits in the series opener against Principia. Tuttle finished with a .600 on-base percentage and a 1.214 slugging percentage, recording three triples. 

Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week
  Gavin Kinworthy, Fontbonne University

Kinworthy notched his 7th win of the season, working 7 innings against Blackburn. The sophomore picked up the complete game win, limiting Blackburn to two hits and one run while striking out 13 and walking just one. It marked his second double-digit strikeout game of the season. 

Softball Hitter of the Week
 

Bella Velez, Spalding University

Velez finished last week with a .600 batting average in four games, driving in 6 and scoring 4 runs. The junior had hits in all four games including a pair of three-hit performances. She finished with a .867 slugging percentage and added one stolen base. 

Softball Pitcher of the Week
  Michaela Ferman, Spalding University

Ferman picked up a pair of wins in the circle last week, finishing with a 1.00 earned-run average and 17 strikeouts in 14 innings pitched. The freshman held Blackburn to five hits, striking out 8, and followed with nine more strikeouts against Eureka.

Men's Golf    
  Justin McCoy, Webster University

McCoy picked up his second tournament win, shooting a 36-hole score of 143. The junior carded an opening round 69 and won the event by one stroke, finishing one under par. 

Women's Golf    
  Alexis Seay, Spalding University

Seay placed 1st at the SU Spring Invitational, shooting a two-round score of 163. She shot an 81 in the opening round and 82 in the second round, besting a field of 20 golfers by two strokes. 

Men's Outdoor Field    
  Colton Rich, Greenville University

Rich took 1st place in the javelin at the Greenville Select with a throw of 178'7". That distance sets a new personal best by over 10 feet and has been the top finisher in all three meets he has competed in this spring.

Men's Outdoor Track    
  Gianni Estrada, Greenville University

The sophomore finished 1st in the 1500 meter run with a time of 3:55. He bested a field of 55 runners, setting a lifetime best time by three seconds. 

Women's Outdoor Field    
  Ashley Smith, Greenville University

Smith recorded a pair of personal bests at the Greenville Select while finishing 2nd in the shot put with a mark of 40'7". She also had a lifetime-best throw in the hammer throw and finished 7th in the discus. 

Women's Outdoor Track    
  Cayden Sharp, Greenville University

Sharp had two 2nd place finishes and a 4th place showing last weekend. She finished 2nd in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.24 seconds at the Greenville Select. She also finished 2nd in the 4x100 relay and 4th in the heptathlon at the Indiana State meet.

  • Quin Adleson, Westminster College (Baseball) Had three hits, including 2 home runs and 6 RBI in a win over Webster.
  • Ellie Bartlett, Fontbonne University (Softball) Hit .615 over four games last week.
  • Caleb Collins, Spalding University (Baseball) Recorded 10 strikeouts in a 7-inning win over Principia.
  • Kendall Hale, Spalding University (Golf) Carded a 69 in the first round of the SU Spring Invitational.
  • Jaelin Holdaway, Webster University (Softball) Went 4-for-4 with 1 home run and 3 RBI in a win over Westminster.
  • Holly Heuerman, Blackburn College (Softball) Recorded five hits, including two home runs, and 7 RBI in a doubleheader against Maranatha Baptist.
  • Hailey Kutz, Fontbonne University (Softball) Recorded 15 strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings over two games against Eureka.
  • Carter Lee, Fontbonne University (Baseball) Hit .545 with 2 home runs and 8 RBI in a three-game series against Blackburn. 
  • Tyree Simms, Fontbonne University (Track and Field) Set school records in the javelin, hammer throw, and discus at the Greenville Select.
