Volleyball survives five set battle versus Westminster

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The volleyball team secured a key conference win against Westminster on Friday night, taking a five-set victory over the Blue Jays. Mia Bonacorsi exploded for 25 kills in the 21-25, 25-16, 25-21, 21-25, 15-10 win.

The Panthers produced a hitting rate of .196 in the match with 68 kills and 32 errors on 184 swings. Bonacorsi produced a rate of .278 on her 54 swings. Bonacorsi, a six rotation player, also reached double figures in digs with 16.

Sacorra Patton had 14 kills and Madison Hicks provided 12 kills to surpass double figures.

Amanda Hollis directed the Panther offensive attack with 26 set assists. Kaitlin Murray ended with 24 set assists.

Murray and Lainey Hicks also produced two service aces.

The Panther back row was led by Chasity Hill with 27 digs, and Hollis also produced 11 digs.

Schmidt and Hicks also paced Greenville at the net with one solo block and three block assists each.

The Panthers (12-5, 6-0 SLIAC) will travel to Fontbonne for matches on Saturday against Fontbonne and Principia as they finish their first loop of matches against conference opponents.
