Game 1 Breakdown
The Griffins jumped out to an early lead in game one against Blackburn. Hannah Miener got it going with a double down the infield line. Abby Alonzo singled to left field and Miener scored on the play. Lexi Becker singled to right field, scoring Alonzo. Grace Harlin reached on a fielding error, advancing Becker to third and then stole home bringing Fontbonne's lead to 3-0.
The bats were quiet again until the bottom of the sixth inning for the Griffins. Lilly Jones singled and stole second. Allysa Ibarra walked. Hannah Miener laid down a sacrifice bunt and moved the runners. Pinch hitter, Ellie Bartlett grounded out but scored Jones on the play.
The Griffins shut out the Beavers, 4-0. Sam Foppe earns the win and shutout, pitching all seven innings, ringing up 9 strikeouts and limiting the Beavers to just two hits.

Game 2 Breakdown
Blackburn got on the board early in the top of the first with a two-run Grace Mackey homerun. Fontbonne strung some hits together in the bottom of the first with singles from Lilly Jones and Hannah Miener, but left two runners stranded, 0-2.
The Griffins tied it up in the bottom of the second. Madison Greco walked and scored on a Maddie Holtmeyer double to left field. Kassidy Chrisco laid down a sacrifice bunt that brought Holtmeyer in to score, 2-2.
The Beavers take the lead again in the top of the third inning on three hits, driving in one run, 3-2. Fontbonne answered back right away to even the score up. Ellie Bartlett singled to left field. Bartlett then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Hannah Miener singled to left field. Lexi Becker singled to center field, scoring Bartlett, 3-3.
Freshman pitcher, Hailey Kutz, struck out the first three batters in the top of the fourth to hold Blackburn. Fontbonne added to their total in the bottom of the fourth. Maddie Holtmeyer singled to left field, then stole second. Lilly Jones grounded out but advanced Holtmeyer on the play. Allysa Ibarra got an infield single and RBI, scoring Holtmeyer. Ellie Bartlett doubled to center field, bringing around Ibarra to score, 5-3.
Hailey Kutz was solid in the circle, pitching 4.2 innings with 3 hits and 7 strikeouts.
