Men's Basketball Falls On The Road Against Spalding
LOUISVILLE, Ky.—The Fontbonne University men’s basketball team suffered its second straight loss falling to Spalding, 63-48. Fontbonne goes to 10-10 overall and 6-3 in the SLIAC. Spalding improves to 5-14 overall and 4-5 in the SLIAC.

Elijah Rice was the lone player in double-figures on 6-of-15 shooting. Cheikh Thiam had eight points and eight rebounds. Will Suellentrop and Caden Clark added six points each.
It was a slow start offensively for both teams with Fontbonne holding a 6-2 lead with 13:46 left on Rice's made jumper.
With 5:21 left in the first half, the Griffins were still on top 21-19 on Rice's layup. However, the Golden Eagles closed out the final five minutes on a 11-2 run leading 30-23 at the break.
Fontbonne shot just 32.1 percent from the floor in the first, while the Eagles connected on 44.4 percent of its attempts.
In the second half, the Griffins got the deficit to two (37-35) after Rice made both of his free throws at the 14:27 mark.
Spalding, though rallied off a 15-1 run in six minutes to take a 52-36 lead. The Golden Eagles held that double-digit lead over the final eight minutes for the 15-point win.
Fontbonne shot 34.0 percent from the field, while the Golden Eagles ended the night shooting 44.2 percent from the floor. Both teams tied with 35 rebounds.
