Women's soccer collects 2-1 win at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The women's soccer team extended their perfect start to the SLIAC schedule to six matches with a 2-1 victory over Spalding on Wednesday night in Kentucky.  This was the first match in conference play when the Panthers allowed a goal.

The Panthers took an early lead with a goal in the 17th minute of the match.  Kiera Coleman headed in a corner kick crossed by Molly McDonnell for Coleman's fourth goal of the season.

Greenville carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Greenville struck early with a goal from Emma Cadwell, her second of the season, giving the Panthers the 2-0 lead.  GU held onto this advantage until allowing their first conference goal of the season in the 70th minute of the match on a penalty kick.

The match was evenly contested and ended with a 10-9 shot advantage for Spalding.  Spalding also had a 4-3 lead in shots on goal.  Greenville goalkeeper Grace Gehner tallied three saves.

Coleman ended with three shots for the Panthers and was followed by Jen De Leon De Leon with two shots.

The Panthers (6-3, 6-0 SLIAC) put their unblemished conference record on the line on Saturday at Fontbonne in a match that begins at 3 p.m.
