Women's Basketball Falls In Final Minutes Against Greenville
GREENVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women’s basketball team had its eyes set on handing Greenville its first conference loss as the Griffins held a six-point lead in the fourth quarter. However, the Panthers battled back late securing the 90-83 win.

The Griffins had four players in double-figures led by Kourtney White tying her season-high with 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting. Defensively, White came away with five steals.
Madison Nelson had another strong game with 19 points on 9-of-17 shooting, while Mallory Ronshausen came off the bench for a season-high 18 points. Ja'mise Bailey was the final player in double-figures with 11 points.
In the first quarter, the Panthers jumped out to a 12-4 lead at the 6:24 mark on Emily Reinneck's 3-pointer. Fontbonne responded outscoring the Panthers 14-3 over the next four minutes with Haley Buscher's layup giving them the 16-15 lead.
Greenville answered with a 6-0 run, but the Griffins got a 3-pointer from White prior to the buzzer sounding putting them down 21-19 after one.
Both teams shot the ball well in the first with Greenville shooting 63.6 percent, while Fontbonne shot 52.9 percent from the floor.
The Panthers maintained a marginal lead in the second up until the Griffins grabbed a 30-28 lead on White's 3-pointer at 6:50.
Greenville went on to retake the advantage, but the Griffins met up with them once again with 3:04 remaining as Nelson's 3-pointer tied the game, 38-38. The Panthers closed out the final three minutes on an 8-3 run leading 46-41 at the break.
In the third quarter, the Griffins came out on fire hitting its first six shots as they took a 58-49 lead with 6:18 remaining. Fontbonne fended off Greenville the rest of the quarter leading 65-60.
Fontbonne shot 41.2 percent from the field in the third and went 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Defensively, the Griffins held Greenville to a mere 26.7 field goal percentage dominated on the glass having a 13-7 advantage.
In the fourth, the Griffins started out 3-of-4 from the floor putting them ahead 71-62 with 7:27 left in regulation.
Greenville started to chip away at the deficit and eventually took an 80-78 lead on Abigail Reinneck's layup with 2:16 on the clock. Fontbonne got a bucket from Nelson on the ensuing possession, but the Panthers came down and got a layup from Madelyn Stephen to retake the 82-80 lead.
Greenville finished out the game on an 9-3 run going on for the come-from-behind seven-point win.
Fontbonne shot 43.8 percent from the field in the fourth, while the Panthers went 9-of-12 (75.0 percent) from the field and went a perfect 10-of-10 from the line.
Overall, the Griffins shot 46.2 percent from the field and went 14-of-18 (77.8 percent) from the free throw line. The Griffins forced 18 Panthers turnovers.
