Beavers Swept by Webster

Beavers Swept by Webster

Blackburn Baseball was defeated by Webster on Monday afternoon by a final score of 13-3. Webster completed the series sweep of the Beavers after securing the game two win, which was suspended yesterday due to daylight. This was followed by Webster winning the third and final game of the series.

Webster was off to an immediate start in the game, as they plated three runs in the top of the first. Blackburn was able to even the score in the bottom of the first thanks to the top of the Beaver lineup. Adam Holm led off with a single, and after Andrew Lozano bunted him to second, Pedro Medina singled to advance him to third. Mitchell Binder smoked a ball that ate up the shortstop, and allowed Holm to score. Binder stole second a few pitches later, and the throw down to second allowed Medina to score. Binder scored later on a wild pitch from Webster. Unfortunately for the Beavers, these three runs would be the only runs they could manufacture during the game.

Webster wouldn't score again until the top of the fifth, when they led off the inning with consecutive doubles. The Gorloks plated four runs in the fifth, another in the sixth, and then five in the top of the seventh to finish off the Beavers.

Blackburn will head to Greenville University tomorrow, April 4th, for a single nine inning game against the Panthers. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
