Lee's Walk-Off Blast Propels Griffins Past Titans
ST. LOUIS, Mo.— It was another walk-off winner for the Fontbonne University baseball team as Carter Lee’s two-run blast in the ninth sent the Griffins to a 5-4 win over Illinois Wesleyan.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.— It was another walk-off winner for the Fontbonne University baseball team as Carter Lee's two-run blast in the ninth sent the Griffins to a 5-4 win over Illinois Wesleyan.
Fontbonne jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when Trey Kueper doubled to right scoring Colby Shivers and Ty Kueper.
In the second inning, the Griffins Jack Wood was hit-by-pitch and he scored on a double to enter off the bat of Lee.
In the fifth, though the Titans plated four runs on three hits and were helped out by three Fontbonne errors giving them a 4-3 lead.
In both the eighth and ninth innings, the Titans threatened with a runner on but David Howard got out of each inning with strikeouts.
Then, in the bottom of the ninth, Wood was on first after getting hit once again. Lee stepped in and belted his second of the season over the center field wall for the victory.
