GC men's golf team opens spring portion of season with win over Pima

TUCSON, Airz. - Grinnell College's men's golf team had a strong start to its spring season, beating Pima Community College in a match play event Thursday.

Hayden Somach '25 beat Daniel Aitken 1-up, Thornton Walker '26 defeated Andrew Rivas 3 and 2 and Eshaan Sethi '25 was all square with his opponent after nine holes before that player retired.

Kevin Carpenter '25 was 2-up after nine holes against his foe before winning. Additionally, Ian Strawn '24 and Brody Barton '23 met Herman Holst and Nathan Romero in team match play and fell 1-down.

Grinnell will compete in the Knox College Invitational this weekend.
