Baseball completes sweep of Eureka with 8-2 Saturday win

EUREKA, Ill. - The baseball team closed out their trip to Eureka with six runs in the seventh and eighth innings to take a 2-2 game and bust it open in an 8-2 win on Saturday afternoon.

Neither team scored until Greenville posted two runs in the top of the fifth inning for the 2-0 lead.

The Red Devils evened the game in the sixth inning after Cade Buehnerkemper allowed two inherited runners to score.

Lucas Teel pitched the first five innings and only allowed two runs on five hits.

Buehnerkemper did not allow a run in one inning, and Wilson pitched the seventh inning by striking out the side.

Gibson closed the game with two scoreless innings.

George Schneider gave the Panthers a three-run home run for the last runs of the game and went 2-for-5 with four RBI and a run scored.

Drew Frey provided two hits, three runs, and three RBI.

Landon Mokris, Snyder Pennington, and Jacob Sutton each had two hits.

The Panthers evened their season record to 14-14 with the victory and 8-4 in the SLIAC. GU returns to action on Wednesday at Rose-Hulman.
