Men's soccer holds on for 3-2 win

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team gained a 3-2 Homecoming win over Fontbonne on Saturday at Francis Field. Greenville scored three goals in the first half to build their lead and withstood a Fontbonne rally in the second half to earn the win.

Jared McPeek opened the scoring with an unassisted goal at the end of the 12th minute, and Napoleon Urquidi collected goals in the 16th and 34th minutes.

Hiram Cruz finished with three saves.

Greenville ended with four shots from both McPeek and Urquidi, and the Panthers ultimately outshot Fontbone 20-15 with a 9-5 advantage in shots on goal.

Prior to the match, athletic director Tom Ackerman presented McPeek with a special plaque in recognition of receiving the 2022 H.J. Long Award as the top male senior student-athlete at Greenville University.

The Panthers (5-3-5, 5-1-4 SLIAC) travel to Westminster for a match on Wednesday.
