Griffins Take Care of Business in Game One of Series Against Greenville
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University baseball team took care of business against Greenville in the first game of the series with a 6-5 victory this evening. The team improves to 23-12 on the season and 10-5 in SLIAC play.

On the bottom of the third, Colby Shivers hit an RBI single to the right field to bring home Ty Kueper.
On the bottom of the fifth, Thomas Purschke hit an RBI single to shortstop to bring home Ty Kueper once again. Colby Shivers hit an RBI single to score Matt Helm. Thomas Purschke scored after Jack Wood walked. Carter Lee hit a two RBI single to score Trey Kueper and Colby Shivers.
On the top of the seventh, Greenville scored three runs. On the top of the ninth, Greenville scored two more but were unable to tie the game falling to the Griffins, 6-5.
Gavin Kinworthy started on the mound for the Griffins. He pitched 6.1 innings and took the win. He struck out sic while allowing three hits.
Vonner Panek pitched 0.2 innings. He allowed two hits and three runs.
David Howard pitched 1.1 innings. He struck out three.
Nolan Gutjhar pitched 1.0 inning. He allowed two hits and two runs.

The Griffins return to action tomorrow as they will finish the three-game series against Greenville with a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Shaw Park.
