Men's soccer suffers 4-0 setback at Washington-St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 match against Washington-St. Louis on Wednesday night. The Panthers allowed an onslaught of four goals in the first half which forced them to play catchup the rest of the night.

After being outshot 12-0 in the first half, Greenville made some halftime adjustments and managed to give themselves some scoring opportunities with seven shots in the second half. The Bears held the overall edge in the match with a 22-7 shot advantage.

Jaime Torres led GU with three shots in the contest, all on target. Jared McPeek and Pablo Valverde also provided shots on frame.

Francesco Ribechini started the match as goalkeeper for Greenville and allowed three goals on five shots with two saves in the first 28 minutes of the match. Hiram Cruz came on the field in the 29th minute and faced six shots, collecting five saves and only permitting one goal.

The Panthers (0-2-1) will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 14, with a match against Webster at 5 p.m.
