Fontbonne Softball Win Three in a Row After Sweep Against Webster

ST. ANN, Mo. – The Fontbonne University softball team sweeps Webster University in conference play.
Game 1 Breakdown
Webster took the lead early scoring one run in the first and two runs in the second. Fontbonne answered back in the bottom of the second on a Hannah Miener double to right field, scoring Lexi Becker. Michaela Mason followed it up with a double to left field, earning an RBI and scoring Miener, 3-2.
The next two innings were all Griffins as Hannah Miener earned two more RBIs, scoring Lexi Becker and Grace Harlin. Grace Paez singled to right field in the bottom of the fifth, scoring Logan Darrow. Grace Harlin added more to the scoreboard with a single, scoring Paez, 3-6.
The Gorlocks brought it back to a tight game in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs, 5-6. The hot hitting Griffins pounded out two more runs in the bottom of the sixth with a Michaela Mason single to left field, scoring Hannah Miener. Logan Darrow reached on a throwing error, advancing to second and scoring Kassidy Chrisco, 5-8.
Webster had one last chance to come back in the top of the seventh. With bases loaded, the Gorlocks scored an unearned run on a fielding error, but it was too little, too late. The Griffins earn their second conference win, 6-8.

Grace Harlin: 2-for-3 with 1 RBI and 1 run
Lexi Becker: 2-for-3 with 2 runs
Hannah Miener: 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs
Michaela Mason: 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs
Abby Alonzo: Earned her first win with 6 IP with 5 hits and 4 strikeouts
Game 2 Breakdown
The bats were much quieter in game two against the Gorlocks. The Griffins didn't get on the board until the bottom of the fourth when Lexi Becker hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Ellie Bartlett. Grace Harlin followed it up with a single to center field, scoring Hannah Miener, 0-2.
Fontbonne added one more run in the bottom of the sixth with a Lexi Becker ground out RBI that scored Kassidy Chrisco, 0-3.
Michaela Mason pitched a stellar game and with a solid defense behind her, earned her first win and shutout.
