Men's soccer upset by Blackburn in 2-0 shutout

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The men's soccer team suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss at home on Saturday night against Blackburn.

Despite outshooting Blackburn 4-1 in the first half and 6-3 in the second half, a goal in the fifth and 33rd minutes held up and gave the Beavers the win.

The Panthers peppered the Blackburn goalkeeper all night, posting 11 shots on goal.

Rafael Navas tallied seven shots, including three on goal, and Jared McPeek had six shots, four on frame.

Greenville goalkeeper Hiram Cruz faced four shots and tallied two saves.

The Panthers (3-3-3, 3-1-2 SLIAC) managed to stay in second place, and they will head to Eureka for a match on Wednesday night.
