Fontbonne Softball Crowned SLIAC Tournament Champions

Breakdown
Fontbonne and Greenville matched up again in the SLIAC Championship game. The Panthers took the lead early in the top of the first inning after 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 runner left on base. The Griffins answered back with a big inning offensively. Lead-off hitter, Lilly Jones, started it out with a single to left field. Allysa Ibarra singled through the left side, moving Jones to second. The runners both advanced on a passed ball. Gracie Morris reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Jones. The runners advanced again on a passed ball, with Ibarra coming in to score. Hannah Miener hit a towering two-run home run to center field, giving the Griffins a 4-1 lead.
The Panthers chipped away in the top of the second inning with a solo home run by Emma Funk. Fontbonne cancelled that run out with one of their own. Logan Darrow started it out with a single to center field. Lilly Jones singled through the left side, moving Darrow to second. Allysa Ibarra reached on a fielder's choice. Gracie Morris reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Darrow in the process, 5-2.
After a scoreless third inning, Fontbonne extended their lead again. Logan Darrow doubled to left field and stole third. Allysa Ibarra walked and stole second. Gracie Morris reached on a fielder's choice and Darrow was thrown out at home. The runners advanced on a passed ball and Ibarra was able to score, 6-2.
Greenville gained a run back with another 1 hit, 1 run, and 1 runner left on base inning, 6-3.
With time running out for the Panthers, they needed to start stringing some hits together in the top of the sixth. Emma Deters hit a solo home run to bring the score to 6-4. Fontbonne pitcher, Michaela Mason, came up big in the top of the seventh to shut down the Panther's last scoring opportunity. Fontbonne claims the SLIAC Championship over Greenville with a score of 6-4.

Logan Darrow: 2-for-3 with 1 run
Lilly Jones: 2-for-4 with 1 run
Hannah Miener: 1-for-3 with 1 run, 2 RBIs, and a homerun
